Description

A delicious and hearty chili made with ground beef, beans, and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving.

Notes

  • This chili can be served with cornbread or over rice for a complete meal.
  • Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
