A delicious and hearty chili made with ground beef, beans, and spices.

- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir to combine.
- Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
Notes
- This chili can be served with cornbread or over rice for a complete meal.
- Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
