Description

A delicious recipe for creamy gochujang dumplings, perfect for a quick meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (6–8 oz) package frozen soup dumplings (or any dumplings of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (for balance)
  • Garnishes: chopped scallions, sesame seeds, chili oil, or nori flakes

Instructions

  1. Steam the Dumplings: Cook the frozen soup dumplings according to package instructions. Most require 8–10 minutes of steaming over boiling water. While they steam, prepare the sauce.
  2. Sauté Garlic & Gochujang: In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the gochujang and let it toast in the butter for another 30 seconds to deepen its flavor.
  3. Build the Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and whisk gently until the gochujang is fully incorporated. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup if using. Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring often, until thick and silky.
  4. Plate and Serve: Spoon the creamy gochujang sauce onto a plate or shallow bowl. Arrange the steamed dumplings on top and drizzle with extra sauce. Garnish with chopped scallions, sesame seeds, or a swirl of chili oil for added spice and beauty.

Notes
